A Christmas lighting display on a home in the US city of Blue Springs in Missouri has won an award after the owner spent more than 100 hours decorating his property. The Blue Springs Examiner reported that Jordan Adams has won the city's Holiday Home Decorating Contest, after covering his home with some 30,000 lights. This number included a giant cross which itself was illuminated with some 2,500 lamps. According to the newspaper, Mr Adams has been decorating his home for the festive season since he was a young boy. As well as lighting up his own home, Mr Adams travels to other properties to design festive lighting schemes, this year turning his hand to 45 homes. Low-energy Christmas lighting has proved to be a popular choice across the world this festive season, with the city of Liverpool putting up a tree decorated with 9,000 energy efficient LED lamps dubbed the UK's greenest.
