High powered flood lights from Osram have been installed on the exterior of the Novotel at London Heathrow in an effort to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the building.

The lights offer total colour control which allows the user to create a different lighting atmosphere depending on the occasion.

The hotel itself is surrounded by trees and other hotels which can limit its visibility from a distance.

Mohammed Rashemanji, engineering manager of Novotel Heathrow, said: "The colour changing aspect of the luminaires enables the Novotel to stand out. In addition, we can bathe the hotel in red light for Valentine's Day and specific corporate colours for business functions - any colour to suit the event."

Previously the hotel was using 300W halogen lamps to light its exterior but the hotel wanted to find a solution that could increase visibility while achieving energy savings.

The new LED lights enable the Novotel to achieve energy savings of 5,340 watts per hour.
