Ceiling lights powered by solar energy could soon be a fixture at Clarence House, the London residence of Prince Charles. The Daily Mail reports the Prince's intention to equip the residence with solar panels on the roof. Ultimately, these are hoped to power both the ceiling lights and the interior heating of his property in the capital. The expected cost - £150,000 - could be recouped by 2021, according to the publication. However, the plans will only go ahead if they are deemed to be unlikely to have a significant negative impact on the visual appearance of the property, which is 180 years old. Should the solar panels be installed, members of the public might expect the chance to see the eco-friendly ceiling lights for themselves in the years to come. The Prince's website states that Clarence House is open to guests each year between August and October, subject to advance booking.
