US-based Cree has announced the arrival of the XLamp MPL EasyWhite which offers the performance, colour consistency and lumen density to rival conventional light sources, the company claims. In addition, the new LED lighting consumes 78 per cent less energy than traditional incandescent lighting technology - which is still reliant on 19th century technology. "Cree is raising the bar on LED brightness, efficacy and ease of use. We are providing the MPL LEDs the way the lighting industry has wanted to buy LEDs," said Paul Thieken, director of marketing LED components at Cree. The XLamp is also one of the smallest and most compact LED components available while retaining its efficacy and light output. XLamp features up to 1,500 lumens in a compact 12 mm by 13 mm casing - 72 per cent smaller than its nearest competitor. Cree's LED lighting range also includes blue and green LED chips, high-brightness LEDs and power-switching devices.
